Toshiba Portege M200 Tablet PDF Print E-mail
image
Guide Price: €2,487.00

CNET describe the Toshiba Portege M200 Tablet as a "successful combination of notebook performance and tablet functionality make it one of the best on the market, despite its mediocre speed" and "You can get the Toshiba Portege M200 in many configurations, but the standard components make it a high-performance tablet even in its most basic form. Bluetooth is a $50 option. The Portege M200 comes replete with an Intel Pentium M 1.5GHz processor, an Intel 855PM system chipset, and a Wi-Fi-certified Intel Pro/wireless LAN 2100 802.11b adapter, making it a true Centrino. The basic configuration includes 512MB of memory in two 256MB modules, which unfortunately populate both of the available memory slots, making a future upgrade less convenient. Toshiba offers memory upgrades of up to 2GB. The Toshiba Portege M205 comes with a 40GB hard drive, but you can also customize it to 60GB or 80GB of storage.

At 12.1 inches, the Toshiba Portege M200's TFT display is small, especially considering its 1,400x1,050 SXGA (Super Extended Graphics Array) resolution. Fonts and icons are predictably tiny, but the display's vibrant colors and wide viewing angle make it a pleasure to use. The display's pumped-up virtual screen real estate can come in handy if you work with high-resolution images, and the Nvidia GeForce FX Go 5200 32M is powerful enough to support small-scale video editing and Web design."

Guide Price: €2,412.00

Lenova say of their ThinkPad X Series Tablet "ThinkPad® X Series Tablet models have the full functionality of our other X Series notebooks plus a unique swivel hinge which allows the screen to rotate 180°. This provides the flexibility to take handwritten notes directly on the screen with the Tablet Digitizer Pen — or via touch screen on select models of the new ThinkPad X60 Tablet. And available Intel® Centrino® Duo Mobile Technology delivers new levels of mobile performance, reliability and manageability."

PCMAG reviewed the ThinkPad X41 and said "IBM's first tablet is first-rate and will surely bring some buzz to the tablet community. It's the lightest convertible around, and the screen has a perfect paper-like feel for writing."

Guide Price: €2,267.00
PC World said this of the Hewlet Packard Compaq TC4200 "the TC4200's magnesium alloy casing is lightweight and can take a few knocks. Plus, it's bundled with Altiris recovery software - a must-have if disaster strikes when travelling. Speaking of which, the TC4200 has a stated battery life of 5.5hr. There's an optional travel battery also.

Other options include security capabilities such as an embedded security chip or smart card reader and HP's "Protect Tools" security manager software. The TC4200 is easy to use. In tablet mode, the unit has a depressible rubber jog dial to move the cursor up or down and select, plus a "Q-menu" for access to system settings.

Scores of 78 in PC WorldBench 5 and 4064 in 3DMark 2001 makes the TC4200 one of the better performing tablet PCs we have seen. HP also has a variety of docks, stands and port replicators to let you add things like a DVD writer or to easily integrate the TC4200 with your home or office."

Hewlett Packard Compaq TC1100 Tablet PC PDF Print E-mail

Guide Price: €2,015.00

The next generation Tablet PC from HP, the HP Compaq Tablet PC tc1100, is loaded with new features for mobile professionals who are always on the run! Whether you're working in the office or on-site with a customer, the new tablet offers significant enhanced features.

PC Magazine Says of the TC1100 "If we had a PC Magazine Most Improved Product of the Year Award, the HP Compaq TC1100 ($2,399 direct) would be a memorable winner. Usually, new revs of products fix only one or two of the problems we found in older versions. The TC1100 did the opposite, fixing all but one.

Unlike other convertible designs, the TC1100's keyboard not only swivels and hides for slate usage, it actually comes off altogether. When the keyboard is removed, the slate is a 3.1-pound device that's a joy to carry. With the keyboard, it's 4 pounds and still very easy to tote around. "
